CHERNOBYL CHILDREN PAINTINGS

Dear friends,

By anticipating in this event you support financially disadvantaged and helpless young children.

Their work is the best proof of their talent and it is possible to change their FUTURE by helping them to learn and develop their skills NOW. Belarus apart from still suffering greatly from Chernobyl disaster is currently experiencing political and economic turbulence which makes such talented but disadvantaged children even more vulnerable.

Minsk School of Art, Belarus

Ochremchik's Minsk School of Art is a unique school in Belarus for young children to study everything from history of art to fine art itself. It currently provides general education, accommodation, mentoring and teaching of arts for about 500 children.

Although the school is officially supported by the state in reality help is practically nonexistent and most children don't even have a basic set of brushes as many of them come from extremely poor and disadvantaged backgrounds. Despite that they beat children from other countries in competitions which gives them confidence and self-belief. Just imagine how much more they could do if they had i.e. a printing workshop and enough art material to practice new techniques.

The event will be held on the

15th and 16th December 2007 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Edinburgh Language Academy.

The school is located at 6 North Junction Street, Edinburgh. Please come and share in this family event. A children's painting workshop will be opened all day for youth participation.

A nominal door charge o f3.00 per admission will be charged redeemable against purchase of art work. Children are admitted free.

All proceeds from the sale of the paintings will go to:

Ochremchik Minsk School of Art (Minsk, Belarus)
Chernobyl Children Life Line Charity (Scotland)
Friends of Chernobyl Children Charity (Scotland)

For further questions contact the school 0131-555-1221 or email: info@elacademy.co.uk
