English for University and IELTS preparation

You want to study at university in the UK. This course is for you. The course will give you the skills you need to succeed in the IELTS test. You will do real IELTS tasks like reading, writing and speaking. It will also will help you improve your study skills. You will work on skills relevant to both the IELTS test and writing university assignments. 


Course Content

Work to develop the core skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing. Much of the course involves IELTS exam preparation, as this qualification is necessary for entry into British colleges and universities. 

  1. IELTS Part 1 and Part 2 writing practice
  2. IELTS speaking skills
  3. Listening for IELTS
  4. Reading for IELTS
  5. Strategies for successful study in a UK university or college.
  6. Presentation and seminar skills.

The course runs all year. You will be tested at the start of your course and placed into a suitable class. 

The maximum class size is 12 students.

Academic English Writing Course - Part-time

You can study academic writing at ELA.

You are a university student and you want more help with your writing skills. The course covers only academic writing skills. It is not a foundation course for university.

Dates and Fees

The course is for 2 or 4 hours/week, and can start at any time.

Course costs £45/hr.

The course runs for a minimum of four weeks.
